Paul became a member of the Hadi Shriners in the fall of 1967 after going through the
Blue Lodge at Richland City and the Evansville Scottish Rite. Having just been released
from the US Army, he wanted to join the Color Guard, but was informed that he was too
short. At that time you had to be at least six feet tall in your stocking feet.
He didn't join anything for 35 years. In 2003 he was asked to join the Legion of Honor,
of which, he became Commander in 2006. In 2007 he ran for the Great Lakes line and
became 2nd Lt. Commander in 2008 and Commander in 2010.
Paul has been married to his wife Jeannie since 1968. They have two children. Their son,
John Paul who was a Shriners child at the St. Louis Hospital until he was 21. John had
his leg amputated when he was 11 years old and now works at Toyota. Their daughter,
Andrea is slightly mentally challenged. She volunteers at the Early Childhood Development
in the school cooperation, which is like a preschool for children with learning
disabilities.
Jeannie, Andrea and Paul live on three acres on the corner of Jeannie's family farm
just east of Boonville and their son John built his house on the same farm.
